what could cause a laptop to work for about 20 minutes and shut down?
I was given an IBM think pad. Its older but not obsolete, I'd like to fix it. It starts up and works fine for about 20 minutes and shuts off. It seems like it may be heating up, but i do hear a fan running. The guy who gave it to me said he had it apart and there was some kind of heat conductive grease or glue between the processor and the heat sink or fan on top of it. It looked dried out. Could that be the problem? Any Ideas?
