How do I install a Hard Drive on a Gateway E4100 desktop?
I looked to change hard drive(very noisy), pulled off panel, and saw motherboard,ram,heat sink,fan, but no hard drive. It looks like it may be part of the floppy, and Cd drive. where is that thing, and how do I do this..I can't screw it up..
For reference, I am using the third picture (the interior) as a guide:

Looking into the case, look to the right of the case. On top, you will see the optical drive cage, where one or two CD-drives are housed.
Below that is the floppy drive.
Right below that is a metal box resembling a square with it's upper right corner cut off. This is the HDD cage.
To remove the hard drive:
1) Power off and unplug the PC from the wall. Press the power button several times afterwards to discharge any residual electricity.
2) Discharge any static electricity you have with an anti-static wrist-strap, or by touching the bare metal in the interior of the case.
3) Unplug the cables from the HDD. There should be two, a thick data ribbon (IDE) cable, and a thinner, 4-wire power (MOLEX) cable.
4) (For this step, try to use a non-magnetic screwdriver, if possible. It will reduce the likelihood of data corruption on the magnetic media). Remove the drive from the cage either by unscrewing it, or by removing the tool-less fasteners (the aquamarine-colored plastic tabs in the photo) if you have them. Once all fasteners have been removed, slide the drive towards you to remove it. You may also have to remove the drive cage itself, but this is not likely.
5) Install your new HDD by reversing the steps above.
6) Power on, and install your OS and your software. Alternatively, you can also clone your old hard drive onto your new hard drive.
