XP Media Center to Vista?
I bought my computer at the end of November, and now Microsoft sent me an e-mail stating they sent out my copy of MS Vista Home Premium (32 bit). When i receive it, should I install it quickely or wait? If I install it, will I lose all the programs and documents in my computer, or will it be the same, except with a new operating system? I also heard there are some compatibilty issues between vista and some software, games, and devices (ie. w/ 256mb nVIDIA 7600 GS, logitech quickcam pro 5000 vx, etc). I have a lot of software and games, like Adobe 8 professional, Adobe photoshop CS2, Adobe Premier Pro 2, Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred 9, Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, Nero 7 Ultra Edition, Age of Empires III, GTR II, EA SPORTS FIFA 07, EA SPORTS CRICKET 07, Zoo Tycoon 2, etc. Will these be compatible with Vista Home Premium, or should I wait until all the possible compatibility issues are resolved? You're fine. Install Vista when you get it. the bugs are really getting worked out now and once you install you can update.
No, you will not lose your files or your extensive library of software, it only upgrades your OS files to the Vista versions. I did the same and I didn't lose my programs. Just be sure to select the Upgrade Windows option and not the clean install. that will wipe your hard drive and star from nothing
