I have a Gateway DS Profile 5X CTO and NEED HELP?
I tried to install Windows XP Professional on this system and now the monitor will not display correctly and my modem does not work properly. I do not have the orginal CD's to install things - what do I do and where do I go to get the information?
I have my own cd for Windows XP Professional that I bought. When I first installed it said that I needed to take the old operating system off so I rebooted from cd and followed the screen options.. after it was all installed and I tried to adjust the display properties under settings and it is only 16bit color with no other options and I can only have it on 800X640 with no other options. Under the device manager it comes up yellow with no modem installed.

Ok, I see...
You need to install the drivers from the manufacturers website (since you don't have the driver CD)
You can download them, save them on a CD or flash drive if you have and install them on the mentioned PC...
I will try to get you a direct link for your drivers.

Do all except the BIOS (first on top) You can cause serious damage.
