Is an Intel Atom processor compatible with other Intel processors?
I'm thinking of getting a laptop with an Intel Atom processor, because it's cheap. I'd like to reformat it and put Windows XP on it instead of Linux. I'm just wondering how compatible the Intel Atom is with other Intel processors, and if it is possible to install XP on an Atom. I looked in Wikipedia and they say nothing about its compatibility.
It's 100% "compatible" with other Intel processors ("compatible" in quotes because it's not quite properly used correctly in your question, but you get the idea 
The Atom processor can run XP.
