Stripped Screw Laptop?
I overtightened my Thinkpad T60's screw securing the LCD bezel to the frame. I tried to get it out with less force, but that resulted in a stripped screw top (meant to look like (+), looks like (o) ). It's kinda problematic. Anyone got any ideas on how to get it out?
I own a laptop service shop and I deal that with alot. There's no easy way to get it out, but here's a couple things to try. Use a flathead screwdriver that just fits down in the rounded out hole, press very hard and see if you can get it to turn,support the opposite side while pressing. If that doesn't work then take the flathead and place it on the outer edge of the screw and LIGHTLY tap it counter clockwise with a pair of pliers or something of an aprox equal weight until it turns. If you have to do it this way be patient and very carefull, if you tap it too hard or use something too heavy the screwdriver can slide off the edge and leave a nasty scratch or worse.
