How do I reformat my Maxtor OneTouch External Hard drive?
It will not show up in Computer, I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, it just will not show up. Is there a way I can get to it and reformat it if it isn't showing up in Computer?
Well, I had recently accidentally reformatted it to work with my Dish DVR, and after that it won't work with my computer.
An external hard drive is actually just a regular hard drive that you'd use inside your computer, wrapped into a case with a power cord jack and a USB connector. I've seen instances where the hard drive inside the case is actually fine, but something is wrong with the case itself (perhaps a connector is faulty). A solution may be to open the case and take the hard drive out, and either put the hard drive into a different external case, or connect the hard drive internally in your computer. This would allow you to recover data on it that you may want to save.
