How to help my laptop run games faster, and run faster in general?
I have a Gateway NV55C (just that not any upgraded versions). With 4 gb of RAM. It has 219 GB hard drive with 35.2 GB free. It has Chassis with Intel® HD Graphics with 128MB of dedicated system memory supporting Microsoft® DirectX®10 and Mobile Intel® HM55 Express Chipset. Im not the super smartest with computers (I know my way around one and id say i have a little above just general knowledge.) I say to get more ram but my dad says that wont change anything. When i do tasks such as run my server (minecraft) and try to play it it'll freeze up and skype really slows down my computer. I can barely even play any High Quality games online or even off line (Team Fortress 2, Battlefield ad Company 3, etc...) When I got it this computer ran like a dream but ive cluttered it up. Now I have to end like 20 processes when it starts up before I can even use it! Will purchasing more RAM help and are there any easier (less expensive) methods to solving this?
More RAM will help, though it really comes down to your GPU concerning games like TF2 and BC3. Intel HD graphics won't really cut it for those games; you would need a higher-end NVIDIA or ATI/AMD Radeon card/chip, or at least Intel HD Graphics 3000. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure all Intel HD Graphics GPUs are integrated, so in order to get a better one you'd have to get a whole new system.
Also try defragmenting your hard drive. May or may not help, but it's worth a try.
